TanHoldings Football Club and the Teen Ayuyus arranged their championship showdown in the Division A of the M-League after easing past their respective semis opponents last Sunday at the Hopwood Middle School Field.
TanHoldings FC was the first team to march into the finals following a 9-0 demolition of Okadaya in the opening Final Four match. The Teen Ayuyus then made it a battle between the Top 2 finishers in the elimination after securing the second finals berth via their similar shutdown victory over Kanoa FC, 3-0.
In the first semis game, TanHoldings FC was at it early after knocking two goals in just a span of eight minutes. Martin Jambor started things off for TanHoldings as he found the back of the net in the fourth minute, while Kautong Omengkar handed the squad its second goal in the eighth.
Jambor then got his second goal in the 18th minute, while Jershwin Angeles hit the board, too for TanHoldings in the first half with his shot in the 43rd minute.
Despite a comfortable lead, TanHoldings did not slow down in the second half with siblings Martin and Lukas Jambor toying around with Okadaya’s defense or the lack of it. Martin completed a hat trick with just three minutes into the second half, while his brother Lukas got the pair of goals in the 49th and 78th. Angeles and Ryan Relucio registered the two other goals for TanHoldings in the second half. Relucio broke away from his defender and hit a cross in the 67th minute, while Angeles found himself going one-on-one against Okadaya goalie Shunsuke Katagiri. Angeles managed to score in the 86th minute despite colliding against Katagiri and falling to the ground along with the Okadaya keeper.
In the second semis game, the Teen Ayuyus took a while before getting into their groove, but still came out victorious against Kanoa.
The Teen Ayuyus, who had some players who just returned to the island after a five-day training camp in Hong Kong, earned their first goal in the 23rd minute courtesy of Louie Calayag. Dai Podziewksi made it a 2-0 count for the Teen Ayuyus 10 minutes later, while Alex Park drilled the squad’s last goal against the quiet Kanoa crew in the 59th minute.
Meanwhile, the Teen Ayuyus and TanHoldings FC will dispute the division crown this Saturday at 2:30pm at the Hopwood pitch with the latter having the slight edge due to its perfect record. TanHoldings won all its five matches in the elimination and handed the Teen Ayuyus their lone defeat (0-2) so far this season. TanHoldings and the Teen Ayuyus first met last Nov. 19 with Jambor and Joshua De Leon scoring the two goals for the undefeated squad.
