TanHoldings extended its winning run after whipping Docomo, 98-78, in the second game in the 2017 JEM Company Ltd./Mobil Customer Appreciation Basketball League last Friday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.

The victory was the fourth in as many games for TanHoldings, which kept the lead in Pool A, while Docomo absorbed its third straight after winning its debut against Triple J early last month.

Paul Quizon, Douglas Schmidt, and Lerio Pagarao made life difficult for Docomo defenders as all three scored 20-plus points for the unbeaten TanHoldings. Quizon had a game-high 26 points, while Schmidt and Pagarao recorded 25 and 22 markers, respectively.

Quizon’s hot hands made up for the absence of another TanHoldings gunner Matt Duenas. Quizon nailed his team’s first basket off a layup and with Schmidt and Pagarao picking up the scoring as the game progressed, TanHoldings managed to take early control of the match, leading by 12 by the end of the first period, 26-14.

Schmidt had 9 points in the opening canto and was still unstoppable in the second, as he added 9 more, while Dindo Pablo knocked in three triples, allowing TanHoldings to pull away at the break, 59-32. Pagarao added 6 markers in that second-quarter surge and then teamed up with Quizon in the final half to finish off the hapless Docomo crew. Quizon and Pagarao scored all but one of TanHoldings’ points in the fourth quarter with the former, tallying 12 points and the latter contributing 6. Joseph Villamena made his lone marker in the final canto.
