It’s indeed the season of giving, as Saipan Marianas Lions Club handed out $1,500 to TanHoldings Football Club last week in support of the latter’s soccer program.

Saipan Marianas Lions Club officials, led by its president Flor Miranda, turned over its donation to TanHoldings FC president Eli Arago last Thursday. The donation, according to Saipan Marianas Lions Club secretary Ladyvir Canape, was part of the proceeds from their 5K walkathon held last October. A portion of the proceeds was also given to Rota for the victims of Typhoon Mangkhut.

“As promised during our walkathon, we are donating half of its proceeds to the football club. There was a bit of a delay in the turnover of the donation because of the typhoons and the activities of our association. We wish the football club good luck and may they continue working with the our youth and promote health and wellness through sports,” Canape said.

Arago, on behalf of TanHoldings FC, thanked Saipan Marianas Lions Club for its donation and support, not only to sports groups, but also to other members of the community.

“We are very grateful to Saipan Marianas Lions Club for their generosity and support to our club. The donation is very timely, as we will be sending a team to Guam for a tournament this week,” Arago said.

TanHoldings FC will have its U15 squad playing in the Guam U15 Girls Friendlies that is scheduled from Dec. 20 to 23. Liz Phan will coach the team, which has Judy Ann Andebor, Allysya Mae Angeles, Emalyn and Mary Joy Aniana, Christine Mae and Clair Eliesa Barrozo, Jenny Ann and Julie Ann Capayas, Marinel Falalimpa, Stephanie Flores, Sydney Camille Hinds, Tyana Kristine Hix, Lovely Joey Loyola, and Rizza Relucio as members.
