TanHoldings Football Club retained the boys U17 division lead in the 2016 NMIFA Youth Fall League following a 6-2 triumph over Paire FC last Saturday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
TanHoldings now has a 3-1-0 win-draw-loss record to remain on top of the team standings, ahead of idle Matansa FC (2-2-0), MP United (2-1-1), Paire (1-0-3), and Kanoa (0-0-4).
Joshua Galarion lifted TanHoldings to its third victory after scoring two goals against Paire. He made the first one in the 14th minute and second in the 30th. Saixian Bagsic duplicated Galarion’s pair of goals in the opening 40 minutes of the game with the former drilling his first in the 16th minute and the last in the 32nd.
Thaiphi Austria and Anthony Fruit made it to the board, too for TanHoldings in the first half and the former’s conversion in the 18th minute and the latter’s shot in the 36th handed the division leader the 4-2 halftime edge.
TanHoldings went on to widen the gap in the second half with Alan Hinson and Jonah Pohl contributing one goal apiece in the 44th and 72nd minute, respectively.
MP United FC 6, Kanoa FC 1
In the other game at the Oleai field, MP United FC also eased past Kanoa FC for its second win in four games.
Michael Le and Sun Joon Tenorio teamed up in the victory, recording two goals each for MP United. Lee broke the ice for MP United with his shot in the 17th, while Tenorio had back-to-back goals in the first half (29th and 34th minute) to give MP United a 3-0 advantage after the first half.
Lee then opened MP United’s scoring anew in the second half when he found his target in the 48th minute, while Go Sekiguchi and James Kim registered the last two goals in a span of a minute (64th and 65th) to complete MP United’s rout of Kanoa.
The losing squad avoided a shutout when Ian Maniago ended Kanoa’s long silence in the 70th minute.
CO-ED U12
MP United FC-1 12, Paire FC 0
MP United FC-1 also gained a lopsided win in the co-ed U12 competitive division after blanking Paire.
MP United-1 improved its record to 3-0-1 to stay close behind division leader Kanoa (4-0-0), while Paire dropped to a 1-1-2 card for share of third to fourth place with TanHoldings FC.
Rohan Basnet led MP United-1’s demolition of Paire after drilling five goals. Rintaro Miyawaki chipped in three goals, while Andrew Chung, Coume Kaga, and Dylan Kim added one each. MP United-1 got an own goal of a Paire error.
TanHoldings 11, MP United-2 10
TanHoldings foiled MP United’s bid for a sweep in Week 4 after edging MPU-2 in the other match at the Hopwood pitch.
TanHoldings earned its first win of the season, thanks to Angelo Pulido’s six goals, including the last two that ensured the victory for the team. Pulido had a string of fours goals in the first half, scoring in the 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 29th minute to power TanHoldings to an 8-5 halftime edge. Kohtaro Goto and Oliver Fajardo contributed two goals each in the first half to give TanHoldings cushion.
Dev Bachani and Sean Gil also knocked in two goals apiece in the opening 30 minutes of play for MP United, which drew one goal from Leopoldo Naraja.
In the second half, Fajardo completed a hat trick in the 32nd minute, while Pulido added two more in the 38th and 56th to keep TanHoldings on top and end the squad’s skid.
MP United-2 fell short against TanHoldings despite making five goals in the second half. Naraja, Gil, Garrett and Tori Weaver, and Leo Takahashi scored in the final frame for MP United-2.
