ROTA—TanHoldings and its charitable arm, the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, turned over sports equipment to the Rota Department of Fire and Emergency Services last Friday at the Dr. Rita H. Inos High School.

The island’s DFEMS invited the Rota Mayor’s Office and the island’s teachers and students to attend the turnover ceremony and personally thank the company and the foundation for their generous donation of more than $1,300 worth of sports equipment.

“Here on Rota, we don’t really have much activities or extracurricular activities, but this a really good way to get the community together, especially our youth. [This will] keep them happy, healthy, active, and stay away from drugs,” said Rota DFEMS officer-in-charge Bobbie Jean Taisacan.

The sports equipment will be stored at the Rota fire station. Anyone interested in borrowing the equipment will have to meet with fire prevention officer Victorino Mendiola. DFEMS and Fire Prevention Committee will be having a set schedule for all the children and the community to use the equipment.

DFEMS also extended its special thanks to TanHoldings FC coaches for coming all the way from Saipan to do a presentation on soccer for the students of Rota.
