Tanapag Elem. School wins Aqua Resort pumpkin-carving contest
Tanapag Elementary School won Aqua Resort Club’s Halloween pumpkin-carving contest this year.
According to food and beverage manager Rom Manzon, Tanapag’s carving, which features a fish and a taga stone, received 42 votes from ARC’s diners and guests during the two-day voting period last Friday and Saturday.
The winning school will receive $1,000 in educational tax credit as their prize.
“We will present to them the certificate soon,” Manzon said.
Chacha Oceanview Middle School placed second with their beach scene carving that garnered 37 votes. Garapan Elementary School came third with 32 votes.
Other participants were Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School, Marianas High School, Oleai Elementary School, Hopwood Jr. High School, San Antonio Middle School, and San Vicente Elementary School.
Pumpkin carving, traditional to Halloween celebrations, has been part of ARC’s Oct. 31 revelries for about five years, said Manzon.
ARC also had a costume contest among its staff, with hotel guests serving as judges for the best costume on Halloween night.
Anna Rose, who dressed up as a “pirate’s whore,” won $100 after getting the most number of votes.
