Tan Holdings, Matansa stay perfect

Tan Holdings Football Club and Matansa FC remained unbeaten to retain the top spot in their respective divisions in the M-League.

Tan Holdings earned its third win in as many games following a 4-0 victory over Paire FC last Sunday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field. With its 3-0-0 win-draw-loss record, Tan Holdings keeps the Division 1 lead against Wild Bill’s (2-0-1), MP United (1-1-1), Inter Godfather’s (1-1-1), Paire (1-0-2), and Korean Football Association on Saipan (0-0-3).

Sean Perez helped Tan Holdings extend its win streak after scoring two goals against Paire. Mareko Tekopua and Semisi Paongo contributed one goal apiece.

In other Division 1 results, Wild Bill’s and Inter Godfather’s downed separate foes.

Wild Bill’s edged MP United in the first game last weekend, 3-2, off Tanapon Unsa’s hat-trick.

Unsa drilled all his goals in the first half, giving Wild Bill’s a 3-1 halftime lead. Joe Miller and Dakota Hall tallied the two goals for MP United with the former making the first one in the 36th minute and the latter hitting the scoreboard in the 62nd.

In the second match, Inter Godfather’s dominated KFAS, 5-1.

Four different players contributed to Inter Godfather’s cause with Peter Loken leading the team with his back-to-back goals (65th and 80th) in the second half. Inter Godfather’s drew its first three goals in the opening half from Ryu Tanzawa (fifth minute), Shunji Nagayasu (22nd), and David Duenas (30th).

Meanwhile, in Division 1, Matansa led the field with its perfect 3-0-0 slate.

Matansa bagged its third consecutive victory after slipping past the Thundercats, 3-2, in the last game of the weekend.

Kamrul Kamrul hit the goal that gave Matansa cushion in second half, while Young Ha Hwang and Ahmed Titu registered the two other goals. The Thundercats (0-2-1) got their two goals from Don Cabrera and Cosmos Kim.

The other Division 2 match last Sunday between Shirley’s FC (1-2-0) and Sun Palace (0-3-0) ended in a draw, 2-2.

Guang Lin Li posted the equalizer in the second half (47th) for Sun Palace, which drew its first goal from Jun Sik Kim. Shirley’s had its two goals in the first half, courtesy of Muneaki Arai (12th minute)and Kosuke Sato (35th).

Action in Division 2 continued last Wednesday night with World Resort (1-2-0) beating the CNMI Women’s National Team, 4-2.

Daniel Agulto and Hoin Ryu collected two goals apiece for World Resort, while Renita Fleming and Jeraldine Castillo had one each for the Women’s National Team (0-0-3).
