The Outstanding Public High School Citizenship criteria target students who demonstrate strength of character that encourages fellow students, leadership qualities that inspire others, and a commitment to service to others without receiving financial compensation or academic credit.
The Outstanding Citizenship Award focuses on the applicants’ commitment to serve their communities, their demonstrated leadership ability, and their independent character in being an upstanding citizen in the local community.
“When we had this idea to give an award, we really wanted to emphasize the students that really give a lot to their community. So this award is really great for our students because it gives our kids more incentive to excel not only in their studies, but to also be an active member of the community,” said Tan Holdings president Jerry Tan.
Awardees received a plaque of recognition and a gift bag of prizes, including one of the latest electronic tablets and other goods altogether valued at over $1,000. (PR)
