Tan Holdings Classic set for two weekends

The first week of the annual tournament will run from Nov. 17 to 20 with Saipan and Guam players allowed to enter in the junior short court singles and doubles events (girls and boys divisions) and in the adults singles and mixed doubles. The adults singles is divided into five age categories: men’s and women’s 2.0, 3.0. 4.0, Open, and 40-and-above division. The mixed doubles play will have only four divisions, 2.0, 3.0. 4.0, and 40-and-above.

Games scheduled for Nov. 17 and 18 are for Saipan players only and will be played from 5pm to 9pm at the American Memorial Park Tennis Courts, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, and Pacific Islands Club. Guam players will start seeing action in the tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

Last year, 16 junior and adult players from Guam joined the Tan Holdings Classic, including boys U12 champion Derek Okuhama. Also on the visitors list last year were U10 singles semifinalist Mason Caldwell, U12 singles semifinalist Brian Tuncap, Ryan Freeman, Josh Cepeda, Christian Penafiel, Alex Ornbo, Camdyn and Ashley Nadler, and Pulani Lansing

Deadline for registration for Week 1 of the competition is on Nov. 10. Draws will be posted on Nov. 15. Registration fee is only $15 for singles and $10 per person in the doubles division. Entry forms are available at the Tan Holdings Accounting Office, located on the first floor of the JP Center Building in Beach Road. For Guam players, registration forms can be obtained from Lany Camero of Fiesta Resort Guam.

Week 2 of the annual netfest will be played on Nov. 23 and from Nov. 25 to 27. Events lined up in the second week are the junior long court U10, U12, U15, and U18 singles and doubles divisions and adults doubles (2.0, 3.0. 4.0, Open, and 40-and-above categories). Deadline for registration for Week 2 is set for Nov. 17, while draws will be available by Nov. 21. Awards ceremony will take place on Nov. 27.
