Taimanao seeks DPW approval for infra projects
Rep. Francis S. Taimanao (Ind-Saipan) will seek approval from the Department of Public Works regarding several road-paving projects.
Taimanao said discussions have been conducted with Technical Services Division of the DPW on the scope of work.
The matter will then be forwarded to DPW Secretary James Ada for approval, given that he is the expenditure authority for these projects, Taimanao said.
He said he has pre-filed an appropriation of $143,000 in bond funds from the Commonwealth Development Authority for the road paving projects in Kagman I, Phase I, and some in Phase II, if the funding request is approved.
Taimanao’s bill earmarks the “associated interest” in bond funds for the years 2015 through 2020 for road paving and drainage system in Kannat Tabla and Kagman III, Phase II, III, and IV.
“In order to ensure that funding is committed to these projects we must have a consistent funding source so in that way all these concerns are addressed,” he said.
Aside from the road paving, Taimanao said he and Rep. Lorenzo Deleon Guerrero (Ind-Saipan) also identified several designated speed bump locations needed for bus shelters throughout Kagman II and Kagman III. The bus shelters are in Kannat Tabla, San Vicente, and Kagman.
Another project, the restoration and repair of the Children’s Playground in Kagman II, is also being discussed with DPW, Taimanao said.
