The 19th Hole Bar & Grill’s Islander Tag Team 8-Ball tournament concludes on Saturday night starting at 7pm.
A three-way tiebreaker series between Oneshot’s Ron Chisato and Edward Suzuki, IDC’s Norman Tenorio and Quinton Ngirarios, and Tasi’s Oscar Sablan and Ed Blas will take place to determine the second and third place prize winners. All three teams finished the series with 28 points
D2Pats’ Pat Taitano and Pat Cepeda already locked up first place and won its final match via forfeit against Y-Not on Saturday. However, the gifted win did not really affect the previous standings as the alpha duo boasted a healthy double-digit lead over the field coming into the final round last weekend; D2Pats finished the event series with 35 points.
The awards presentation will take place following Saturday’s tiebreaker matches.
In addition, registration is now open for an encore Islander Tag Team 8-Ball series, which is set to start up on Saturday, March 17 and 18, starting nightly at 7pm. Opening racks break at 7:30pm and 9:30pm.
Organizers are aiming to fill eight teams amd slots are still available.
The entrance fee is $20 per team and cash prizes go to the top place finishers.
Like the Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball League, the Islander Tag Team Tournament follows official BCA rules except that sinking the 8-ball on the break is a win. Each team plays two singles and one doubles match every week.
Doubles players continue shooting until they miss or scratch; players don’t alternate shots. Scoring is determined by total games won. If, for instance, a team wins two games and its opponent wins one, two points are scored for the team and one point goes to the opponent.
