T Galleria showcases Marianas culture in art display
Returning for its second year at T Galleria to promote local artists for Cultural Heritage Month, this year’s Marianas Cultural Art Gallery features local traditional and contemporary artists including Dellina Lieto, Greg Bacnis, Cherry Camigla, Flowerpot Salas, Irineo David, and Sylvia Daguitan. These talented artists will be showcasing their art work at T Galleria to tourists who are visiting from around the world, where they can appreciate the talent that we have on the island. Should tourists want to bring these special pieces back home with them as authentic souvenir from Saipan, the prices of art pieces range from $3 to $200.
The gallery will be complemented with live demonstrations and performances this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28. Live demonstrations given by featured artists will occur from 6pm to 7pm, followed by live performances from Man Antigo, Refaluwasch Warriors, Northern Starts, Abby Kaipat, Tatz Selepeo, Sunrise Cruisers, and Samoan Dancers from 7pm to 9pm.
“We are very thankful to DFS. They are a longtime sponsor of our activities and this is the second year for this particular activity that brings our visual and traditional arts directly to our visitor market, provides exposure to artists and at no-cost to the artists,” said Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Robert Hunter. “We are very appreciative that DFS makes this space available to us and I encourage our community to go down and take a look at the art work on display.”
The Marianas Cultural Art Gallery is open until Sept. 30, from 10:30am to 10:30pm at the T Galleria by DFS, Saipan. The gallery is made possible in partnership by DFS and the Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
