SYP: Networking with a spin

Share

The Saipan Young Professionals committee of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce held its 3rd quarter mixer last Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at the 360 Revolving Restaurant.

Guests were encouraged to bring a new and unwrapped toy to benefit the Toys 4 Tots campaign.

There were complimentary beverages donated by Saipan Brewing Co. as well as a spread of appetizers.

SYP co-chairs Zachariah Johnson (of the Public School System) and Beau Tomokane (Delta Air Lines) kicked off the event by sharing some insight on SYP’s mission, goals, and ongoing projects.

Guests were challenged to meet two new people in order to grow their network.

A highlight of the event was recognizing two SYP members who were recently awarded grants by the Bank of Hawaii: Shayne Villanueva and Tanya Salas.

Villanueva thanked Nicole Babauta from the CNMI Small Business Development Center for sharing information with them.

“I want to…thank SYP for the motivation and support they have shown me. …I look forward to what SYP has in store for me and look forward to working with these amazing individuals” said Villanueva.

Salas added: “I’m glad that I have been consistent in attending our SYP meetings and trainings. I really learn a lot and if it weren’t for attending, I would have never known about this grant.”

The event also featured a raffle draw, with prizes donated by Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Franken Brau, KFC, Let’s Go Tours, Roil Soil, Tribe Marianas, The Shack, Thrive Medi-Spa, SeaTouch, Shirley’s Coffee Shop, and Swirls. (PR)
