“Sweet Blue” of Japan’s CS-TV has selected the Marianas as their one diving destination to feature in 2019.

The daily program reaches about 730,000 people and will air six 30-minute episodes about Saipan in June, to be followed by two reruns of the episodes for a combined ad exposure value of $2.1 million for the tropical destination.

“The advantages of diving in the Marianas are numerous, including visibility, warm waters year-round, and a wide diversity of dives,” said Marianas Visitors Authority acting managing director Judy Torres. “As the MVA works with international media to attract visitors interested in enjoying diving and other water sports, it’s imperative to ensure that our waters and natural resources remain pristine. This is the dream visitors wants to experience when they come.”

Featured dive sites include the Grotto cavern, Laulau Beach, Obyan Beach, Oleai Beach, Managaha, Tinian Fleming, Tinian Grotto and others. Filming was also conducted at Mt. Tapochao, Old Man By the Sea, Forbidden Island lookout, Café 670, Garapan Night Market, Oleai Beach Bar & Grill, Kensington Hotel Saipan, and other sites.

The program will feature models Hanako Hirose and Natsuki Morita at various diving spots in the Marianas.

At the International Free Diving Competition “Vertical Blue 2017” that was held in the Bahamas, Hirose grabbed the Women’s World Record in Constant Weight with a 103m dive as the first Asian woman. She is also the first Japanese PADI master free-diver instructor. (PR)
