Slights Delights and Insights
Well I’ll be damned I just can’t stop getting older now
this nonstop aging process brings slight after slight
entering the Chinese New Year of the White Metal Cow
our fear of COVID is not slight every virus filled night.
I ‘got mail’ and phone call messages left by friends
my spirits are lifted from these cyber stream delights
delighted to speak with them before the day ends
as we laugh and talk about old childhood fights.
We hear of others our age in an old folks home
some beat COVID some gone after sleepless nights
now families grieve many spouses left alone
old age has its positive and negative insights.
Forget the slights forgive others and learn to trust
discern the connections between diamonds and rust.
