Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts is set to make the holidays more impressive with the staging of Swan Lake Ballet & Concert of the Ballet Stars 2011.
The show, which features ballet dancers from Saratov State Ballet Theater in Russia, Seoul Universal Ballet Academy in Korea, and Glusko’s Academy dancers, is scheduled tonight and tomorrow night at the American Memorial Park Open Amphitheater at 7pm to 9pm.
Lim Hye Kyung, Seoul Universal Ballet Academy director, said she and young ballet dancers Ahn Joo Won and Ki Su Ji arrived yesterday morning for the show. While this is the first time for the young ballet dancers to be on Saipan, this would be Lim’s second time.
“I feel very relaxed. I remember the audience last year was very warm and happy,” Lim said.
According to Lim, it’s always good to perform on Saipan and give good energy to the audience through their art. “Art makes life beautiful. That’s the purpose of art. This is also a good opportunity to educate our academy students,” she added.
Natalia Kolosova and Daniil Kurynov, meanwhile, will be representing the Saratov State Ballet Theater. “It’s my first time and I love everything here,” said Kolosova through Glushko’s Academy’s Anna Glushko.
Kurynov, who will be performing on Saipan for the third time, said, “We will see the best tradition of classical ballet and Russian soul expressed in ballet.”
Glushko, for her part, said they have a “strong team” for this year’s production as they represent the best in their ballet companies.
“The show, it’s never getting any easier and it’s always full of challenges but we’re excited,” Glushko told Saipan Tribune.
According to Glusko, they will also feature some 45 students of the Glushko’s Academy, whom she described as “getting better and better each time.”
Glushko said ticket sales have been good so far and they are getting a lot of positive feedback from students, parents, sponsors and donors.
She invited the community to buy tickets to watch the show, which cost only $15 for adults and $10 for children below 12 years old. Tickets are available at Shell gas stations, Gourmet Restaurant and Shenanigans in Garapan, 360 Revolving Restaurant and Manic Inn in Susupe, and Kevin’s Department Store in Chalan Kanoa.
“It’s going to be the best performance because they will see the best of Korean and Russian dancers,” added Glushko.
