Susupe/Armatech notches second win

 Susupe/Armatech took its second win in the 2011 MDX Amateur Radio Club Inter-Village Friendship League after downing Chalan Laulau/AON, 64-51, last Sunday at the Civic Center Basketball Court in Susupe.

Eugene Manglona paced Susupe/Armatech with 15 points, while his six other teammates contributed at least six points each to give their squad an even 2-2 card in Bracket A of the 18-team field.

Susupe/Armatech led from start to finish to hand AON its first loss in two games.

Chalan Kanoa 74, Gualo Rai 51

Chalan Kanoa/Fong’s Bakery defeated Gualo Rai/Blue Haus to improve to a 2-0 record and take the solo lead in Bracket A.

Jun Tabora, J.R. Mina, and Ezra Caro teamed up in Chalan Kanoa/Fong’s Bakery’s 23-point victory. Tabora fired 22 points, while Mina and Caro chipped in 13 apiece.

Chalan Kanoa/Fong’s Bakery held Gualo Rai to eight points in the opening quarter for an early double-digit lead and never looked back from thereon.

Tanapag 66, Puerto Rico 47 

In another Bracket A game, Tanapag/FGC broke into the win column after three tries, following a 19-point triumph over Puerto Rico/Triskelion.

Four Tanapag/FGC players scored in double digits with Dennis Morales leading the way with 15 points.

Both teams started slow with Tanapag ahead by only a deuce after the first period, 10-8, before Morales and company picked up the scoring in the next three quarters to snap their losing skid.

BRACKET B

China Town 67, As Perdido 54

Also drilling its first win was China Town/Slashers, which prevailed over As Perdido/B-Boys.

Fradel Sedillo exploded for 35 points to help China Town/Slashers recover from its opening day loss. Mike Olaitiman contributed 10.

An 18-7 start was all China Town/Slashers needed to control the game and hand As Perdido/B-Boys back-to-back losses.

Kagman 56, Dandan 51

In the other Bracket B game, Kagman/Destroyers edged Dandan/Hawaiian Rock.

Lerio Pagarao paced Kagman with 14 points, while Dan Mateo added 10. Kagman held Dandan to 20 points in the first half and played steady in the second half to eke out a fve-point win.
