Suspected ‘ice’ dealer pleads guilty
A suspected dealer of crystal methamphetamine or “ice” who is on probation has pleaded guilty in Superior Court.
Jameson Palacios Hemley, 43, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to illegal possession of a controlled substance as part of a plea deal. He also admitted to violating the terms and conditions of his probation in three traffic cases. He will be sentenced on March 21, 2017, at 1:30pm.
Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo directed the Office of the Adult Probation to prepare a pre-sentence investigation report.
In the drug case, Hemley shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment between zero and three years.
Govendo will determine the credit for time served at the March 21 sentencing.
For violating the terms and conditions of his probation, the six months suspended sentence in the traffic cases shall be served in addition to the jail term, if any, is imposed in the “ice” case.
Hemley was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine.
Hemley was found in possession of 0.5 gross grams of “ice” on March 18, 2016.
Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds appeared for the government at the hearing. Assistant public defender Michael Sato served as counsel for Hemley.
According to court records, Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested Hemley last April 28 for illegal possession and trafficking of “ice.”
DETF agent Roque K. Camacho said they spotted Hemley in Puerto Rico shortly before noon last July 29. As they served the arrest warrant on Hemley, police noticed a Chinese national in a separate car throw away a tissue containing “ice.” The man was arrested.
