Suspect arrested in Gualo Rai burglary

A man was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing a generator from the DCBNC Technology Co. in Gualo Rai.

The suspect, Jefferey Castro Aldan, 48, was arrested after he was identified in a surveillance tape.

The Department of Public Safety received a 911 call reporting the burglary and theft incident last Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at approximately 10:07am. Officers arrived on scene at about 10:14am.

The caller, who is an employee of the company, told the responding police officers that that he noticed a broken padlock to the main entrance and reviewed the surveillance footage, where he saw an unknown male individual removing the company generator.

At the scene officers noticed a cut padlock at the main entrance, and noticed three more padlocks that had been cut, which led to three separate rooms in the premises. While officers made their way to the surveillance room they noticed three surveillance cameras had been tampered with. While reviewing the surveillance footage, officers observed an unknown male individual, wearing a brown T-shirt holding a bolt cutter while walking through the hallway with a black generator on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, around 3pm On a separate security monitor, officers noticed a suspicious white Toyota Corolla leaving the scene shortly after.

A description of the individual and the vehicle was given to other officers in the area and Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives and crime scene technicians were summoned to the scene.

At 3:15pm, a separate officer met with a group of individuals who identified the vehicle and the unknown individual in the surveillance photo as Aldan. Another group of individuals also confirmed the photo as Aldan, and stated that he resides in Papago.

While patrolling in Papago, at about 4:15pm, detectives located a vehicle that matched the description from the burglary case and saw a black generator.

At about 4:31pm, Aldan was advised of his Miranda rights and placed under arrest. While being transported to the Department of Corrections, Aldan confessed to the burglary and theft incident at the DCBNC Technology Co.

On Aug. 30, 2019, at about 4:19pm, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho signed the arrest warrant for Aldan with bail set at $500,000. Aldan was served at the Department of Corrections.  (PR)
