A surveillance camera caught on video a man running away with a case of beer in a daylight robbery at a store in Susupe on Sunday.

The suspect was with two other men who served as a lookout and driver of their getaway vehicle-a red Toyota pickup truck with license plate AAW-568.

A source said the alleged lookout was a certain Francisco, also known as Koko.

The footage of the surveillance camera also showed Sheng Hua Lu, 46, manager of Family Market, trying to chase the suspects outside the store.

Lu told Saipan Tribune yesterday that the incident happened on Sunday at 12:08pm when one of the suspects, described as male about 5’6” to 5’7” tall and wearing a baseball hat, ran off with a case of beer.

The camera’s footage showed the red pickup truck parked in front of Family Market along Texas Road corner Tupak Street.

The suspect, wearing the baseball hat, entered the laundry shop located beside Family Market, then proceeded to the store.

Later, the suspect came out of the store and appeared to signal his companions. He then went back to the store, took a case of beer, and put in on the table of the cashier.

The suspect tried to disrupt the attention of Lu, who was then standing near the cashier’s booth, by asking him to check some items. When Lu left the cashier’s booth, the suspect grabbed the case of beer and ran off.

The female cashier was surprised and told Lu about the incident. Lu tried to chase the suspects, whose truck sped off in the direction of Mt. Carmel Church.

Lu then called the police.

Lu said he had just installed the surveillance camera on Saturday.

It was the third time that the store was reportedly robbed of a case of beer in the past few years. No arrest was made in the three incidents.
