Learning valuable skills like how to network, starting meaningful conversations, and presenting your best foot forward is what true etiquette is all about.
As an avid supporter of the CNMI’s youth, Pacifica Insurance Underwriters, Inc. joined this year’s 2019 Miss Marianas pageant as a main sponsor and helped put together a fine dining etiquette training for the six lovely contestants at Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Giovanni Restaurant.
Stellar Marianas etiquette director Jaki Fujihira and pageant coach Ernie Molina led the training that showcased the discipline of fine dining, how to greet and discuss various topics with fellow guests and hosts.
Fine dining is usually part of the experience at the world’s international pageants and, as an ambassador of the Commonwealth, the islands’ queen is expected to know these intricate details and traditions.
“We deeply appreciate the amazing support of Pacifica Insurance president Mrs. Shirley Sablan and her team. This was an unforgettable experience for all of us and a skill that is most useful for our young women that could be applied in their formal experiences,” said Fujihira.
2019 Miss Marianas contestants Junalyn Billedo, Riane Capalad, Merly Fernandez, Sharon Palacios, Shannon Sasamoto, and Dierra Palacios enjoyed a five-course meal prepared by the culinary team at Hyatt Regency Saipan.
“Helping our young women find their best potential and experience personal growth is a wonderful testament to the kind of commitment we share in ensuring we are represented well, not only in competition but also as young professionals,” said Sablan.
“We are happy to share in this positive experience and help a dedicated nonprofit organization, Stellar Marianas, offer these worthwhile lessons to our delegates,” she said.
The contestants also practiced conversation starters, listening, asking, and answering questions while keeping etiquette in mind at the dining table.
“This is one part of the journey our young delegates are on as they prepare for the 2019 Miss Marianas pageant this June. We have several activities and events lined up to help them only become more confident, stronger and ready for the world’s stage,” said Fujihira.
