Super Bowl of fishing tournaments in Marianas
On behalf of the Saipan Fishermen’s Association, I would like to say thank you to our sponsors for all the support given for this year’s event.
The enthusiasm and generous donation are a very big part of what allows the SFA to put on this great tournament and make it so successful.
Word has spread throughout the Marianas that this is the “Super Bowl” of fishing tournaments in the Marianas. This is all because of the participants, sponsors, volunteers, and members of the Saipan Fishermen’s Association and let’s not forget the spectators that line the dock waiting to see the big fish come in.
This year was a record year with 20 boats from Guam and I am sure we will see another big turnout from Guam next year. We also had a team from as far away as Pohnpei.
We had a high turnout of local fishermen who are already talking about their game plan for next year’s 35th Annual Saipan International Fishing Tournament and what it will take to get their name memorialized on the big trophies.
Next year we will be hosting the 15th Annual Mahi Mahi Derby, sometime in March/April and our milestone 35th Annual Saipan International Fishing Tournament in July. The exact dates will be published as we move closer towards these months.
In the meantime, please visit our website and Facebook page and enjoy all the pictures and post from this year’s tournament. If anyone has pictures of a catch they would like to show off, feel free to tag our Facebook page. This is not limited to just trolling pictures we have pictures of casting, bottom fishing, spearfishing and talaya. These pages are for all of our local fishermen, fisherwomen and youth to be part of and enjoy.
