Sunga shoots hole-in-one in Marianas Health Golf Classic

Emiri Sunga shot a rare hole-in-one in the 2022 Marianas Health Golf Classic last Oct. 29 at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
The Guam golfer made a hole-in-one shot in the opening round of the afternoon tee time at the west course. She also collected $300 for closest to the pin in the aforementioned hole.
Sunga used her 3 wood to knock in the ace on the par 3 hole No. 17 to win $5,000, which was sponsored by Pacifica Insurance Underwriters Inc.
In the women’s double peoria, first place went to Rose Rohringer and Nirimai Kobel for $1,000; second place went to Sherlyn Jones and Nana Liu for $500; and third place Florilyn Jones and Lydia Tan for $250.
In the men’s double peoria, Ben Pelisamen and Kaegel Taitano won first place for $1,000; Joji Taguchi and Diego Benevente won second place for $500; and third place went to Ned Norita and Nathan Camacho for $250
The women’s low gross, first place winner was Yinnu Cai and Young Hee Yoo with a score of 72 for $2,000; second place went to Emiri Sunga and Gina Cura with a score of 73 for $1,000; and third place went to Sae Hee Kim and Hyun Sook Lim with a score of 75 for $500.
The men’s low gross first place went to Feng Chun Jin and Zhi Yun Li with a score of 60 for $2,000; second place went to Harry Nakamura and Franco Santos with a score of 62 for $1,000; and third place went to Sun Ho Kang and Joung Hoon Park with a score of 64 for $500.
Optional plays of closest to the pin for hole No. 3 of $250 went to Jeon Seo Yeon at 57 inches and Frank Sablan at 32 inches; $250 went to Jin Feng Chun at 93.6 inches; and aggressive drive of $300 went to Diego Benavente at 36 inches.
Funds raised from the tournament, which attracted a total of 154 golfers, went to support the Antonio T. Lizama Scholarship Program, which awards local students seeking higher education in the healthcare field to help support our health force community.
