The public is being invited to the Northern Marianas Humanities Council’s Motheread/Fatheread CNMI summer class at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library.

We are hosting family literacy classes at the library this summer and adding a virtual class, so families can get a feel of what to expect from our classes. We will be teaching strategies, techniques, sharing books, and activities to help strengthen family bonds and empower our CNMI families to learn and grow in a supportive literacy environment. Moreover, the lessons taught during our classes will help parents be reading role models for their children.

We are offering the classes on the following days:

• Friday, July 23, 5pm-6pm onsite at Joeten-Kiyu Public Library

• Monday, July 26, 7:30pm-8:30pm (virtual only)

• Wednesday, July 28, 4pm to 5pm onsite at Joeten-Kiyu Public Library

• Friday, July 30, 5pm-6pm onsite at Joeten-Kiyu Public Library

For participants, we will be giving daily raffle prizes of books, gift certificates, Pokemon swag bags, and so much more!

This is a free adult family literacy class suitable for parents with children ages 5 years old to 11years old. Parents are welcome to bring their children. We will be conducting classes in the Children of Our Homeland Center at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, and classes will be taught by a Certified Motheread/Fatheread CNMI Adult Teacher. If you have any questions, and would like to reserve your seat today, contact coordinators Beth Demapan or Celina Foreman at (670) 235-7315 or email read.cnmi@gmail.com.

Motheread/Fatheread CNMI is administered by the Northern Marianas Humanities Council in partnership with the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library and the CNMI Public School System. (PR)
