To mark Marianas Tourism Month, students of Dr. Rita H. Inos Jr./Sr. High School on Rota welcomed visitors arriving at the island for an annual boat race in May.

The Rota Yacht Race was held on May 25-27, 2019, with nine boats from Guam participating. In coordination with the Marianas Visitors Authority, students welcomed the vessels as part of an arrival reception at sunrise at the Rota East Harbor.

“As part of our Marianas Tourism Month celebration, we wanted to be sure to engage young people, and the Rota Yacht Race was an excellent opportunity to have them support this tourism activity,” said Rota field operations supervisor Sandra Atalig.

Nearly 50 visitors arrived for the race, which was coordinated by the Rota Mayor’s Office. The office took the lead in sending off the vessels to Guam last May 27. (MVA)
