Student events boost leadership traits
Mount Carmel School recently hosted a Student Activities Fair and Student Leadership Retreat to encourage its students to be active leaders and participants in the community.
The Student Activities Fair was held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, in the Maturana Building on the campus. More than 26 clubs were able to reach out to new and returning members. Many of the clubs reflect the values of the school and the interests of the students.
That following Saturday on Aug. 24, 2019, Mount Carmel School’s student body officers hosted a Student Leadership Retreat to engage student leaders in activities that promote teamwork, leadership, tools for success, and fundraising efforts for the rest of the school year.
“It is very promising to see many of our students at MCS wanting to take on leadership opportunities and engage with their peers,” said MCS student body president Kalea Borja. “With more than 26 existing clubs, we’re certain for another exciting and eventful school year.”
Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero, Mount Carmel School president, said, “Our team at Mount Carmel School continuously aims to help our students learn, teach, lead, and grow with a growth mindset. We are especially proud of the leadership our students have demonstrated because most of the clubs are student-led.”
“As their advisers and mentors, we are happy to support and guide our students,” he added.
The clubs and organizations at Mount Carmel School include Art Club, Band Club, Boy’s Fast Pitch Team, Boys Soccer Team, Cross Country, Dance Club, Eco-Club, Game Club, Girl’s Fast Pitch Team, Girls Soccer Team, Golf Team, Knights of the Altar, Math Court, Men’s Basketball Team, National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, National Junior Speech and Debate Association, National Speech and Debate Association, PGFC, Red Cross, Ted-Ed Club, Theatre Club, Thespians Society, Vox Knights, Weightlifting Club, and the Women’s Basketball Team.
