Saisei and the BSI Aces were on target in their first games in the 2016 Masters Baseball League this week.

The BSI Aces debuted in the league last Monday night at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field and routed Rubak, 17-4. Saisei, on the other hand, was pitted against opening day winner Papa Bears last Wednesday and won the high-scoring game, 26-16.

Saisei exploded for 21 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to turn a 5-12 deficit to a 10-run victory. Papa Bears, which downed Brotherhood in the league’s opening game last week, seemed headed for another win when it scored five runs in the first inning and still made it to the board in the next three, tallying two runs in the second and four and five in the third and fourth.

However, Saisei, which had five runs in the first two innings before going cold in the next two, came back with a bang with an 11-run bottom of the fifth and completed the come-from-behind win by adding 10 more runs in the sixth. Papa Bears countered with only four runs in the fifth and sixth and was forced to hand the win to Saisei an inning early.

In last Monday’s game, the BSI Aces got off to a good start, tallying eight runs at the bottom of the first inning to take early control of the match. The eventual winners kept the upper hand as they logged three runs each in the second to fourth inning.

Rubak made no more than two runs in each of the first three innings and was scoreless in the fourth and fifth, allowing the BSI Aces to take the victory via 10-run mercy rule.

Meanwhile, Brotherhood will play its second game today when it takes on the Old Stars, who won their first match over Rubak last week.
