The Ol’Aces’ scoring surge continued, as they pounded BSI, 100-70, during the men’s division game in 2018 MIBF Island-wide Basketball League last Wednesday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

With another easy win, the Ol’Aces kept their perfect record (3-0) in the eight-team field, while BSI dropped to an even 1-1 slate after prevailing in its season debut against the Genesis All-Stars.

In all their three wins, the powerhouse Ol’Aces reached the century mark, as they scored 144 versus the Saints and 107 against the Genesis All-Stars.

Opposite BSI, again the Ol’Aces multiple options on offense helped the undefeated squad cruise past their opponents. Four Ol’Aces players scored in double figures and five more chipped in at least 5 points apiece.

Despite the Ol’Aces’ depth, BSI should be credited for keeping up with its foe in the first half, as the former led by only a deuce at the break, 39-37. John Atencio, Paolo Sanguyo, and Sonny Marinas teamed up in allowing BSI to shadow the Ol’Aces in the first 20 minutes of play.

However, the Ol’Aces began to assert their might in the third quarter behind the 3-point shooting of Preston Basa, who made three consecutive baskets from downtown to help his team open a 75-54 advantage. Dean Blake, Freddie Pelisamen, and Douglas Schmidt also did their share in the Ol’Aces’ third-quarter breakaway.

Basa then knocked in another triple early in the fourth quarter, while Pelisamen drilled 6 straight points to deliver the killer blows for the Ol’Aces.

Meanwhile, in the women’s division game, Fiesta Resort also coasted to a 73-42 triumph over the Docomo Rollers.

Mikky Kautz paced Fiesta Resort with her 14 points, while her three other teammates also finished in twin digits with Irish Pagarao, Jen Villagomez, and Quina Flores adding 13, 11, and 10, respectively. A.J Garon led all scorers with her 15 markers.

In other results last week, the Saints recovered from their debut loss after outclassing the Chalan Kanoa Ballers, 86-78, while the Ol’Aces also regained their bearings following a 68-27 rout of the Docomo Rollers.

Shane Deleon Guerrero lifted the Saints to the 8-point win after firing 22 points, while Rich Ada and Leo Galarse contributed 18 and 14 markers, respectively.

In the women’s divisions, Eleina Santos delivered 18 points to help the Ol’Aces bounce back from a defeat at the hands of the Lady Ol’Aces.
