Stracner is HUD Pacific administrator
SAN FRANCISCO—Jimmy Stracner is the new regional administrator for the U.S. Housing and Urban Development’s Pacific region, which includes Arizona, Hawaii, California, Nevada, and the territories of Guam, American Samoa, and the CNMI in the Pacific region.
Stracner (Strās-nǝr) was sworn in earlier this week by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development deputy secretary Pamela Patenaude.
As regional administrator, Stracner will serve as HUD’s liaison to mayors, city managers, state and local officials, members of Congress, private and non-profit developers, stakeholders and customers.
“I am honored and excited to join Secretary [Ben] Carson, our dedicated staff and committed community partners across our western states and territories,” said Stracner. “Let’s work together to address the affordable housing and community development needs for all in our great region.”
Stracner, who is one of 10 HUD regional administrators in the United States, has worked on numerous advocacy and political campaigns in Nevada and California over the past decade.
Prior to this appointment, he served as deputy political director for Marsy’s Law for All, a national advocacy campaign to assure equal rights for victims of crime.
Last fall, Stracner served as communications director for the No on 2 Campaign, which opposed the legalization of recreational marijuana in Nevada and also served as a consultant for Nevada’s Republican Assembly caucus.
In 2015, Stracner joined the Ben Carson for President campaign as his Nevada State director and then the Trump for President campaign as the western states political director. Prior to this and since 2014, he served as the Republican National Committee Nevada State director and from 2013 to 2014 he directed Engage Nevada, a non-partisan voter registration campaign credited for transforming the leadership makeup of Nevada’s executive and legislative branches of government.
In 2012, Stracner directed the RNC’s voter registration efforts in Nevada and, from 2007 to 2008 he served as a field representative to Rep. John Doolittle (CA-4). He currently lives in Las Vegas with his wife Leah. (PR)
