Airline says move intended to navigate increasing costs and global economic conditions
Star Marianas Air, the sole interisland airline that connects Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, will be increasing its airfare starting Aug. 1, 2023.
According to a news release yesterday announcing the impending price adjustments, this move is in response to the significant surge in inflation rates affecting the global economy, including the airline sector.
“Rising costs of fuel, labor, spare parts, shipping, and operational expenses have necessitated this adjustment to ensure the sustainability of operations and maintain the reliability of service,” the airline’s news release stated. “Understanding the potential challenges that price changes may pose for customers, Star Marianas Air greatly appreciates their understanding and continued support during these prevailing economic conditions.”
Star Marianas assured that the revised fares have been calculated to strike a balance “between sustaining operations and upholding the highest standards of safety and reliability while minimizing the economic impact on the communities served.”
