The Saipan Tactical Airsoft Group held this year’s first Airsoft Shooting Competition last Sunday at the abandoned La Fiesta Mall in San Roque from 9:30am to 2pm.

More than 20 players participated while families and friends of the participants supported and watched. Food, cheers, stories, and laughter were shared among the attendees.

Nineteen players joined the Rifle Category, while nine players joined the Pistol Category with different kinds of challenging targets—metal plates, hanging drink cans, cardboard targets—at different distances and at different locations in the mall.

Five players with the shortest and best time advanced to the final round. Monetary (from entry pot money) and gift certificates from sponsors were the prizes.

In the Pistol Category, out of nine entries Rodel Quindoza won first place with 30.06 seconds; second was Rogel Caruana (31.20); third was Daren Alviz (37.00); Jerry Larioza was fourth (49.00); and fifth was Luis Camacho Jr. (49.98 secs.)

In the Rifle Category, out of 19 entries Daren Alviz was first (1:50.76); second was Rogel Caruana (1:55.43); third was Jersh Angeles (2:01.80); fourth was Jayson Bravo (2:02.65); and fifth was Michael Umali (2:14.97)

STAG president Erick Acesor would like to thank all players that participated in the competition and encourages individuals to try playing airsoft at the game site in La Fiesta Mall every Sunday from 9am to 2pm.

STAG members are willing to lend their rifles and gear with the first timers to experience the fun and excitement of playing Airsoft. Acesor would also like to appreciate all the sponsors that made this event possible: Micronesia Renewable Energy, Inc. CNMI, Pena House Boutique and Salon, Fishing Tackle, Marianas Arsenal, Tech Plus, Cups & Rolls, Pest Busters T&A Corp., and FAT Sports NMI.

STAG is not just a group of people that plays every Sunday, it is also a “family” of different races and ages that share camaraderie through Airsoft.
