SSFM/New Garapan, Island Manpower ease foes
Island Manpower and SSFM/New Garapan Market waltzed past separate foes in the 2015 DLX Invitational Basketball League last Saturday night at the Gualo Rai Basketball Court.
Island Manpower was paired against Team Familia and cruised to a 73-54 victory, the former’s first after dropping its opener against SSFM/New Garapan Market, 66-85. SSFM/New Garapan Market bagged its second win following a 74-62 triumph against Maplas in the nightcap last weekend.

Four players scored in twin digits for SSFM/New Garapan Market with young gun Djay Ong leading the team with his 18 points. J.P. Espinosa added 15, while Mike Espinosa and Cecilio Bisana chipped in 10 apiece.
Ong and Mike Espinosa logged 8 markers apiece in the first quarter to help SSFM/New Garapan Market build an early double-digit spread, 22-11. SSFM/New Garapan Market never looked back from thereon, as its young crew kept spreading the wealth.
In the second game, Island Manpower also got off to a good start en route to the easy win.
Island Manpower led Team Familia by 16 after the first 10 minutes of play, 22-6, thanks to Derek Rangamar’s 7 points, 5 straight of them came late in the opening period.
Team Familia picked up its scoring in the second quarter, but Island Manpower still outgunned the former, 20-16, to stretch the lead to 20 at the break, 42-22.
Island Manpower protected the double-digit lead in the second half, as Team Familia never made headway with only Randy Pelisamen and Ervin Kapileo consistently hitting their shots.
Jerome Norita top-scored for Island Manpower with his 17 points, while Angel Palacios chipped in 12.
