Registration will run from 7am to 7:45am, while the swim will start at 8am. Participants can enter one of the three courses: 3.5 kilometer, 1.5K, and 50 meters. Entrance fee is only $5, while SSC members and lifeguards (with proof of certification) can join free of charge.

“There will be a very short course for those new to open water swimming,” SSC president and series organizer Emma Perez said in an email to Saipan Tribune.

After this Saturday’s event, SSC will hold two more open water swims. The second one is set for July 18 with participants swimming from Paupau Beach to Tanapag or a distance of 3.7 kilometers. Signup for the second swim will be earlier at 6am to 6:45am, while go time is at 7am.

For the third and final series on Aug. 2, swimmers have three options: 2.5K, 1.5K, and 50m. Registration is from 6am to 6:45am, while the race will begin at 7am.

SSC is bringing back the open water series after a successful launching last year.

“All the events went very well last summer. I’m hoping to continue expanding the opportunity for open water swims during the year,” Perez added.
