For two months (July and August), Saipan Swim Club is offering free swim lessons to adult non-swimmers every Saturday.

Classes are set for 2pm and last for one hour. Interested individuals are asked to wear t-shirts and shorts or swimsuits during the classes.

Class size is limited, so contact lead instructor Emma Perez to register. This is a pilot program. If successful, it will continue year-round.

Approach to teaching is friendly, encouraging, and fun. Afraid of the water? No problem, teaching is at your pace. Embarrassed? Again, no problem. Sometimes life gets in the way of things you’d like to learn. Now is your chance.

In support of the program, the University of San Francisco Masters team has donated goggles for participants.

This program is made possible through the generosity of the Mariana Resort & Spa and the volunteer instructors from SSC.

For more information, please contact Emma Perez at 285-4268.

Open water swim Sunday
This Sunday at 7am, Saipan swimmers will jump in the water and swim from PauPau Beach to Tanapag as part of the Saipan Swim Club Masters Summer Fun Open Water Series, hosted by Saipan Swim Club Masters.

These fun swims are untimed and use of fins, buoys, snorkels, and wetsuits is welcome.

Large bright orange buoys will mark the approximately 3.7 kilometer route (2.3 miles) and kayakers will provide on-water escort and support. The swim is entirely within the lagoon and will end at the Tanapag boat ramp (in the park across from Santa Remedios Church).

The swim is free to SSC members and lifeguards with proof of certification. For all other swimmers, the registration fee is just $5 cash or check (payable to SSC).

Registration is from 6am to 6:45am on the beach. For more information, please call Emma Perez at 285-4268. (PR)
