On Friday, March 8, there will be a benefit piano concert at Mount Carmel Cathedral featuring local pianist HyeYeon Hwan and JC Clark. The concert will also feature a special guest performance by singer Stella Choi. Proceeds from the concert will go toward Karidat Social Services’ ongoing recovery and relief efforts for Super Typhoon Yutu.

The principal organizer, HyeYeon Hwang, is a world class classical pianist who has been a resident of the island for the past five years who wants to lend her hand in the recovery effort.

“Recovery can include rebuilding of structures and restoring utilities but we must also rebuild our soul and restore our culture,” Hwang said. “This concert hopefully will help in that regard. It has been over four months since the disaster hit, and there are still people without proper shelter or basic needs. I want to help bring comfort and hope to all through our music”

The concert will include classical and popular selections and some old jazz favorites performed by Mount Carmel School’s very own JC Clark. It is sure to be an uplifting and exciting night for all. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the Mount Carmel School Business Office, the Karidat office, or at the door. (PR)
