Sports car falls into ditch in Marpi, 1 injured

One of the passengers of a yellow sports car was hurt when the vehicle ran off the road and fell into a ditch while heading down from the Suicide Cliff in Marpi on Friday morning.

The Department of Public Safety’s information office has yet to provide information about the accident.

Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Derek Gersonde, said a 23-year-old Chinese woman complained of abdominal pain and sustained bruises and abrasions on the shoulder and chest due to the use of a seatbelt.

Gersonde said the woman also suffered abrasions on the legs.

The injured woman was seated behind the driver of the car. She was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center’s emergency room for treatment.

Gersonde said the driver and the front passenger had no injuries and refused to be taken to the hospital.

Gersonde said that DFEMS received a call from DPS 911 dispatch on Friday at 7:02am about a car accident in Marpi

At 7:45am, DFEMS medics and two rescue teams from Garapan and Susupe fire stations were dispatched to the scene.

The car was reportedly heading down from Suicide Cliff when the driver failed to slow down, resulting in the vehicle running off the roadway.
