Mount Carmel School and Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School split their matches, while Koblerville Elementary School and William S. Reyes Elementary School had a standoff as action in the 2017 NMIFA Fall U11 Interscholastic Soccer League continued last Tuesday.
GTC won its girls division game against Mt. Carmel at the Hopwood Middle School Field, 1-0, thanks to Pia Ngewakl’s shot in the second half. The Knights then foiled GTC’s bid for a sweep after escaping with a similar 1-0 triumph. Leland Deleon Guerrero scored the goal for Mt. Carmel, giving his team its first win this season after settling for a scoreless draw against Garapan Elementary School last Monday.
GTC also got its first victory in the girls division, bouncing back from a 1-2 loss to WSR during the league’s opening day last week. In the boys division, GTC dropped to a 1-0-1 win-draw-loss mark, failing to make a followup on its 1-0 debut win against WSR.
WSR missed on its bid for back-to-back victories after a 2-2 draw against Koblerville at the former’s home field last Tuesday. Rizza Relucio and Ana tallied the two goals for WSR in the first half, while Koblerville drew one from Rosie Saralu in the opening frame. Andrielle Coloma made the equalizer for Koblervile in the second half.
In the boys division, WSR topped Koblerville, 4-1. The Kingfishers broke away in the second half, firing three goals, while the Umangs also got their lone goal in the match in the final period.
Meanwhile, Garapan crushed Kagman Elementary School, 11-0. Garapan was off to the races in the first half after knocking in eight goals before slowing down a bit in the second, while Kagman failed to counter to absorb its second straight loss.
Kagman was hoping to gain its first victory yesterday as it was scheduled to challenge Mt. Carmel at the Chacha Middle School Field. Two more matches in the boys division were played yesterday with Koblerville battling GTC at the KES pitch and WSR hosting Garapan. In the girls division, it was also Koblerville vs GTC at the former’s turf, while Mt. Carmel dueled Kagman.
