Spiden and Tropang Ridhors recorded double-digit wins in the 2nd Alii Blue Haus Invitational Basketball League last Saturday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.

Ken Viray and Mervin Sahagun joined forces in lifting Tropang Ridhors to an 86-76 victory over Vendetta in the first game. In the second match, Spigen outclassed MP Light, 79-63.

The triumph was second in a row for Spigen, while MP Light has yet to break into the win column after two games. Tropang Ridhorse also earned its second victory in as many matches, while Vendetta joined MP Light at the bottom of the team standings in the 12-squad field with its 0-2 card.

Viray exploded for 31 points, while Sahagun added 21 as they alternately nailed baskets in streaks for Tropang Ridhors. Viray had a string of 11 points in the first quarter and 16 in that period alone to give his squad a 30-14 lead.

Vendetta tried to mount a comeback in the second canto behind Jun Estolas, but Tropang Ridhors stood its ground, 49-40, thanks to the 9 straight markers of Sahagun.

Vendetta then kept Tropang Ridhors within striking distance in the second half, but it could not overhaul the deficit, as the former failed to neutralize Sahagun and Viray. Estolas led Vendetta’s losing cause with his 25 points.

In the curtain-raiser, Spigen recovered from a low start to earn the 10-point winning margin. Spigen was held to 15 markers in the first period, but scored at least 20 points in each of the three remaining quarters to hand MP Light another loss.

Mike Umali and Bruce Berline finished with 16 points apiece to tow Spigen to its second win, while Adrian Flores chipped in 12, making up for the absence of Lerio Pagarao.

Sean Rabasto had 18 points for MP Light, while Naks Gunnacao chipped in 14.
