Spawnbreezie, Beachboy look forward to Friday concert

The United Nesia Fest concert series happening this Friday is expected to draw hundreds, thanks in large part to the star wattage of Spawnbreezie and Beachboy, plus a guest performance by Tenelle.

Spawnbreezie will also be performing on Tinian today, Oct. 2, starting at 6pm. It will also feature local talents such as Marvin Deleon Guerrero, Tom Basa Jr., Latte Vibes, and the Marianas Project.

Spawnbreezie and Beachboy have been doing music since they were young and both have always wanted to come out to Saipan and Tinian to perform for their fans out here. Friday’s concert will be featuring some of their latest songs.

How’s your stay on Saipan so far?

Spawnbreezie: I just arrived last night (Sept. 31) and this is my first time here actually seeing the island. It is very beautiful. The people here are nice. Those that I have met, there was nothing but positive energy. I am also excited to perform on Tinian.

Beachboy: With all the places I have been to, by far Saipan has the best hospitality and the food here is great. Seeing the sights and people, was like, wow! This is what happens when your music travels overseas.

What made you want to come to Saipan?

Spawnbreezie: My manager Frank Aguon has always wanted to bring me here ever since he took me on and wanted for the longest time to bring me out to Guam as well. I have always asked about Saipan and was actually told of its history.

What inspires you?

Spawnbreezie: My kids inspire me. Just being a musician, the ultimate sacrifice is leaving my family. This is my motivation.

Beachboy: I started making music at 13 years old and I made music because I had a story to tell. From those dark times when I was young, sharing it with people and letting them know what we have been through is inspiring.

What words of encouragement could you give the rising musicians on Saipan?

Spawnbreezie: Work hard. The biggest thing is consistency. As long as you work hard and don’t let anything discourage you or mislead your course, you’re good.

Beachboy: Don’t give up on what you do.

What is your latest album?

Spawnbreezie: My latest album is a whole new kind of music because we get to appreciate what we do. And it is very meaningful when someone comes up to you and says, ‘Hey, I heard your music and I have been there before.’ Having someone like that tell you and can relate to what you do is very meaningful and it touches the heart.

Beachboy: My latest album is called “In Your Shoes” because I’ve always had that concept of how other people feel. Instead of thinking about myself, I kind of think about what those other people are going through. I got the idea from watching Disney’s Shrek and when he said, ‘Nobody knows how it feels to be an ogre.’ That is how I got the idea. Not everyone else knows what it feels like to be someone else unless you put yourself in their shoes.

Any message to the community?

Spawnbreezie and Beachboy: Come out and enjoy the concert. We will would love for all of you to taste the new music that we have and expect our albums out. Thank you for having us out here and supporting our music and hopefully you enjoy the concert as much as we will. Thank you again to all the promoters, sponsors, and our manager and fans.
