Southern United Football Club are leading in two divisions in the 2019 NMIFA Spring Youth League.

Southern United dominated Matansa, 9-2, in the first girls U19 futsal game last Friday at the TSL Sports Complex to notch its second win in as many matches and tie idle Kanoa FC on top of the team standings in the five-squad field.

Nathanette Blas and Jerlyn Castillo joined forces in handing Southern United an easy victory as they scored three goals apiece. Blas had her first goal in the eighth minute and completed the hat trick when she hit her target anew in the 42nd and 46th. Castillo did the same, getting her first goal in the opening half (25th minute) and the final two in the last (33rd and 45th). Katherine Magat, Keisha Deleon Guerrero, and Mariana Castro also lit up the board for Southern United, scoring in the 21st, 27th, and 34th minute, respectively.

Matansa, which is winless and remained at the bottom of the team standings, drew a goal from Pia Ngewakl in the 24th minute and was awarded an own goal, also in the first half.

The core of Southern United’s U19 roster suited up for the club’s U16 team, too and they cruised past Kanoa, 4-0, at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Saturday to grab the No. 1 spot in the team standings.

Deleon Guerrero had a pair in Southern United’s third victory, while Marinel Joy Falalimpa and Castro added one goal apiece. Falalimpa gave Southern United its first goal in the fifth minute, while Deleon Guerrero made it a 2-0 lead for their squad two minutes later. The winning team’s two other goals were also made in the first half with Castro finding the back of the net in the 15th minute and Deleon Guerrero bagging her second goal in the 28th.
