Southern, in the first match they played, bounced back from an opening-set loss in completing a hard-earned 22-25, 25-20, 18-16 win.
The Lady Manta Rays had a little bit easier time in beating the Lady Ayuyus in the next game, 25-20, 25-16.
Southern and Kagman were originally scheduled to play one game but organizers squeezed in the make-up match that was cancelled last Jan. 15 where the Ayuyus encountered problems with their transportation.
The consecutive wins improved Southern’s standing to 5-2, while Kagman absorbed its seventh loss in eight games.
MHS made short work of Mt. Carmel School, 25-12, 25-14, in another all JV match with the former hiking its record to 5-1, while the latter dropped to 2-3.
Grace Christian Academy and Mt. Carmel defeated their respective foes in contrasting fashion in the varsity division.
GCA had an easy 25-10, 25-15 decision over Kagman with the Lady Eagles notching their sixth win in nine matches.
The Lady Ayuyus dropped their fifth straight match and eighth overall. They haven’t won since beating still winless Southern Varsity last Jan. 15.
MCS, meanwhile, grinded out a 22-25, 25-20, 17-15 decision against Saipan International School.
MCS tied GCA (6-3) behind the unbeaten 8-0 slate of MHS varsity, while SIS dropped to 5-4.
Games were still being played in the JV division at press time with Southern taking on SIS, while Kagman was facing Mt. Carmel in its first match before clashing with MHS in the next contest. Mt. Carmel also played twice when it collided with SIS in the final match.
