The Agape Christian School’s senior graduation for the Class of 2017 on Monday recognized Claire Song as class valedictorian, along with Andrea Feng as class salutatorian.

Song, who would be going on to the University of Illinois to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, has been representing the CNMI in the high school category of the Mathleague competition for many years. Her interest in math motivated her to attend UI Urbana-Champaign’s math program.

Song was also accepted to the Pennsylvania State University, Ohio State University, University of California Davis, and the University of Miami.

“I chose UI because it is one of the universities that isn’t too liberal; I don’t like to party. It is also traditional and the mathematics program there is very good. I also like to study there because I like snow,” said Song when asked why she chose UI over the other universities.

Song plans to finish her mathematics degree before pursuing a degree in business, particularly in finance, or other business related degrees.

Feng is headed for Pensacola Christian College in Florida, where she plans to pursue a nursing degree.

ACS’ senior Class of 2017 consists of 19 graduates. Fourteen of he 19 graduates are all headed for Pensacola.

ACS’s middle school valedictorian for class 2017 is Frederic Guintu, while Tychicus Xu is the salutatorian.
