Sobriety checkpoints on Saipan, Rota
The Department of Public Safety will be conducting sobriety checkpoints on Saipan on the following dates and times:
-Dec. 15: The first checkpoint will be along Chalan Pale Arnold Rd., from Garapan to Chalan Lau Lau, from 6pm to 8pm. The second checkpoint will be along Chalan Monsignor Guerrero in San Jose to Dandan, from 9pm to 11pm.
-Dec. 16: The first checkpoint will be along Chalan Monsignor Martinez Rd., from Koblerville to As Lito, from 6pm to 8:30pm. The second checkpoint will be along Beach Road, from Garapan to Chalan Piao, from 9pm to 11pm.
-Dec. 23: The first checkpoint will be along Chalan Pale Arnold Road, from Garapan to Gualo Rai, from 5pm to 7pm. The second checkpoint will be along Beach Road, from Garapan to Chalan Piao, from 8pm to 10pm.
These activities are part of the Department of Public Safety’s Drunk, Drugged, Distracted, Drowsy Prevention Month.
On Rota, the sobriety checkpoints will be held on the following dates and times:
-Dec. 21: The first setup will be located on San Francisco Highway along Uyulan area, from 6pm to 7:15pm. The second setup will be located on San Francisco Highway along Tatachog Area, from 9pm to 10:15pm.
-Dec. 23: The first setup will be located on San Francisco Highway along Pinatang Park, from 6:15pm to 7:30pm. The second setup will be located on San Francisco Highway along Sonton Area, from 9:15pm to 10:30pm.
-Dec. 25: The first setup will be located on San Francisco Highway along Guata Beach Park, from 6:30pm to 7:45pm. The second setup will be located on San Francisco Highway along Igua Area, from 9:30pm to 10:45pm.
-Jan. 1, 2018: The first setup will be located on San Francisco Highway along Sinapalo Ill Park, from 6pm to 7:15pm. The second setup will be located on San Francisco Highway along Pinatang Park, from 9pm to 10:15pm.
Each checkpoint will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes).
In addition, highway patrol and patrol officers will be conducting highway criminal
interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser (speed detection) enforcement. (DPS)
