A small craft advisory remains in effect until 6am today, Jan. 7, as trade winds remain strong with speeds up to 25 knots expected to produce hazardous conditions for operating small craft.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, trade winds of 15 to 25 knots would continue in the coastal waters around Saipan, Tinian, and Rota through this morning.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres is advising the general public and inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, to avoid sailing in these conditions as small craft can be blown off course or capsized. (PR)
