Small craft advisory until this morning

A small craft advisory is in effect through early Tuesday morning, according to the CNMI Emergency Operations Center.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres is advising the general public and inexperience mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, to avoid navigating in these conditions and take extra precautionary measures on entering and leaving harbors and inlets.

He added the public should avoid venturing into the water along exposed reefs and beaches especially those facing North and East exposures as rip currents will be life threatening.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, gentle to moderate winds are expected across the Marianas coastal waters through midweek and moderate to strong winds are again possible near the end of the week.

Combined seas of 8 to 10 feet will gradually diminish through early Tuesday morning when they are expected to subside to below hazardous levels. (PR)
