Small craft advisory until Thursday

Share

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, fresh to strong winds will make sailing difficult this week in Marianas waters. Additionally, the winds will also produce seas of 7 to 9 feet that build to between 8 and 10 feet by evening.

A small craft advisory is in effect until 6pm Thursday. A small craft advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots are expected to produce wave conditions hazardous to small craft.

The EOC is advising the public and inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, to avoid sailing in these conditions. (EOC)
