Based on information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center, monsoon winds blowing across the Philippine Sea will create conditions hazardous to small craft for at least the next several days.

A small craft advisory is now in effect until 6pm Saturday.

Southwest wind of 15 to 25 knots will prevail today in Rota waters. Variable winds of 5 to 10 mph will be coming southwest 15 to 25 mph this morning in Tinian and Saipan waters. Southwest winds between 15 and 25 mph are then expected for at least the next several days.

Combined seas of 5 to 7 feet will build to between 9 and 10 feet by Thursday.

A small craft advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these conditions. (HSEM)
