SLLBI wants managers, coaches input
The Saipan Little League Baseball Inc. would like to get the thoughts of all managers and coaches who will be fielding teams in the upcoming 2016 season.
The 2016 season’s opening is facing delay as the SLBBI is still waiting for the start of the repairs of both the Francisco M. “Tan Ko” Palacios and Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan ballfields.
The Saipan Little League, the CNMI’s longest-running youth baseball program, has been using both fields for their games.
SLBBI president A.J. Murig, in an earlier email, said he would schedule a meeting for the preparation being done for the coming season and to get their input on the local ground rules.
“[The board] encourage the managers and coaches to let us know of their participation in this season so that sample schedules can be drafted.”
The draft schedule would help the SLLBI in knowing when the season would end in order to give the All-Star teams—Majors, Junior, Senior, and Big League—enough time to prepare for their respective district of regional tournaments.
“[For us] to see if the time we have and the schedule weekends are enough or if we will be increasing the weekend games each Saturday and Sunday instead of just three,” Murig said.
The Big League will be the division that will be affected from the change of schedule since they usually play at night. But with the Tan Ko field’s lights were damaged, no night games could be held.
One scenario that the SLBBI is looking at is holding one game each in the Junior, Senior, and Big League divisions every Saturdays and Sundays.
