SLLB opening pushed back to Feb. 17

Saipan Little League Baseball has announced the new schedule of the opening of the 2017 season.

SLLB president A.J. Murig in a press release said that the kick-off has been moved from this Thursday to Feb. 17

“The main reason for pushing the opening is the lack of team documents. We have set two deadlines that were never met by all teams. As of last night (Monday), we only got nine team documents—almost all of those team documents are incomplete and there are 20 teams. So I encourage all teams to be more responsible and to act with a sense of urgency. We need time to review these documents before we start to make sure nothing is out of place,” Murig said.

“It is very frustrating when the board is asked to start early to give time to All-Star teams to practice yet managers are very slow in turning in forms. Some of which have been in the program for more than 10 years, but still they have issues with meeting document deadlines,” he added.

Murig is reminding managers and coaches that the opening will still start at 5pm and teams must be at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield by 4:30pm. A game in the Senior League will be held after the opening rites. (PR)
