A sibling battle emerged in the girls U12 singles division of the 6th Tan Holdings Tennis Classic with Conatsu Kaga showing no love lost to younger sister Coume in cruising to a 6-2, 6-3 win in their title match yesterday at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan tennis courts.

The all-Kaga finale was arranged after Conatsu and Coume won their Friday and Saturday matches. Conatsu was at the top half of the draw, seeded first in the nine-team field, and disposed off Erika Tuttle, 6-3, 6-0, to march into the semis against Maria Gregoire. Tuttle forced a quarterfinals date with Conatsu after a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Hye Jin Elliot, while Gregoire made it to the semis after a straight set win over Susan Sablan, 6-2, 7-5. In the semis, Conatsu eased past Gregoire, 6-1, 6-1, to set up a finals date with her sister, who eliminated Tiara Imai, 6-3, 6-2, to move into the semis against Riko Oijima. Ojima recorded the lone three-set win in the draw with her 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 triumph over Ellie Epley, but the former was eventually booted out of the tournament after Conatsu prevailed in their semis match last Saturday at Fiesta Court 1, 6-3, 6-1.

Ojima settled for the battle for third place with Gregoire, who completed the Top 3 after an 8-2 win over the former yesterday at Kanoa Resort Court 1. Tuttle and Sablan won the other consolation games against Epley, 8-3, and Imai, 9-7.

Meanwhile, Tania Tan notched the girls U14 crown that slipped away from her hands last year after a 6-1, 6-3 win over Malika Miyawaki in yesterday’s finale at Fiesta Court 2.

Tan, who bowed to Julia Ishikawa in the 2013 title match, 2-6, 1-6, advanced to the finals anew after eliminating Coume Kaga, 6-2, 6-0, and Mimi Sakano, 6-1, 6-2, in the upper half of the draw. In the lower half, Miyawaki booted out Asia Raulerson, 6-1, 6-0, and Ami Tsukagoshi, 6-3, 6-3.

Tsukagoshi rounded out the Top 3 after downing Sakano in the third place match, 8-4, while Conatu Kaga finished fifth with her 8-3 victory over Grace Choi. Tsukagoshi made it to the semis after a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Conatu Kaga, while Sakano bagged a Final Four berth following a 6-1, 6-1 win against Choi.

Meanwhile, results in the boys singles and girls and boys doubles will be reported later this week
